I’m just being Minnesota nice, but really, blank walls make me sad. Their barren wastelands remind me of Laura Ingraham’s forehead (and soul)– so so frozen and cold. Brrrr. Not in my house, you neocon!
Okay, I digress! But, y’all get my point– blank space = bad. To spice up the wall, which is visible from most of the apartment, I created this lovely tapestry. Haha, no I didn’t. It’s actually the extra wallpaper from the buffet upgrade that I promised to put to use. Since I’m in lust with this awesome paper, called Ikat from Chasing Paper, I’m quite happy to incorporate into my decor.
Instead of just sticking the wallpaper onto my wall like I’ve already done in several places in the apartment, I decided to hang it like a piece of artwork. I used this modern hanging frame that I got from Domino and cut the wallpaper to fit. Without peeling the wallpaper from its backing, I essentially turned it into a print.
As a final touch, I hung the frame from this arrow wall hook from CB2. It adds another level of intrigue and beguile (you like that? I just got my word of the day email from PBS Kids… I’m sort of an egghead you know).
Oh, and I finally got my damn deer pillow. I’m so in love with it I could cry. It’s as close as I’ll ever get to having an actual deer head in my house, and I’m okay with that. I’m as good as Minnesotan now!
